Bemposta,
Ponte de Lima. Uns quilómetros a subir desde Refoios. Ao chegar, a água
da fonte pública sabe bem, para beber e refrescar a cara, para lavar os
pés e os braços, para dar à boca o sabor dos minerais, para lembrar que
no cimo do monte, a seguir ao esforço, está a minha casa.

Bemposta,
Ponte de Lima. A few kilometers uphill since Refoios. When you get
there, the water from the public fountain feels good, good to drink and
cool down your face, to wash your feet and arms, to give your mouth the
taste of minerals, to remember that on the top of the hill, after the
effort, is my home.

We roamed through the days,
We asked the fountain for wishes with our eyes facing things.
The body a battlefield.
The place was clear.
The hands wet.
We named trees slowly so we wouldn’t scare light away.
One: olive tree.
Spreading joy around. A little.
Believing that we loved each other,
that we would grow in a straight line up to the sky, quite alone,
connected by our bellies,
understanding that only the birds would care for us
in the silence of their migrations.
